Terms of Use
The undertakings common to the Manor, our butlers and four services
About Terms of Use
The Terms of Use are the undertakings that apply between the Japan Butler Association and customers using the four Queen's Butler services it operates.
Article 1: Scope
- These Terms apply to the use of The Salon, The Studio, the Apprentice Butler Experience and the Online Shop of Queen's Butler, operated by the Japan Butler Association.
- Individual provisions are the service-specific conditions shown in each service's guidance, fee pages, cancellation policy, product pages and application screens.
- Each service's guidance, fee pages, cancellation policy, application screens and other individual provisions form part of these Terms. Where individual provisions differ from these Terms, the individual provisions prevail.
Article 2 (Nature of the Premises)
- The premises are not lodging facilities under the Hotel Business Act, but facilities for experiencing the service of a butler. Use for the purpose of overnight accommodation is not accepted.
- As the premises are not lodging facilities, rooms cannot be locked. Please keep your valuables in your own care.
- Throughout your use, at least one butler of the Association is present in the Manor at all times. The Manor is never let unattended.
- The Salon may be used by women only. Male companions may not enter, even as escorts.
Article 3: Presence of a Butler
- During your stay, at least one male or female butler attends you within the Manor. Arrival, departure and locking are handled by the butler.
- The butler gives such guidance as is needed for safety within the Manor, the handling of furnishings and the course of the day. Customers are asked to follow the butler's guidance.
Article 4: The Bed
- The bed is a training fixture for bed-making in butler education, and may also be used for rest during your stay.
- While the bed is in use, the butler remains in the Manor and no keys are handed over.
Article 5: Eligible Customers and Numbers
- The Salon is for women only. Male companions may not enter, even as escorts. Day and evening slots are for one party of up to six; the late stay is for one guest only.
- The terms of use for The Studio and the Apprentice Butler Experience follow their respective guidance.
Article 6: Restrictions on Purpose
- The bed may not be used as a place of residence, nor the Manor for sole occupation.
- Use whose sole purpose is to secure a place to spend the night, without experiencing the butler's service, is not accepted.
- Registration of residence or any other use of the premises as a place of residence is prohibited.
Article 7: Outings
- Outings are available for stays of four hours or more, and time spent out counts towards your stay. Please return no later than one hour before the end of your stay.
- If customers go out alone, the butler keeps the Manor. If you wish the butler to accompany you, please request this when reserving.
- When the butler accompanies you out, the Manor is locked and unattended; please keep your valuables in your own care. Outings are not available during late-night hours.
- Parking and similar charges incurred when leaving the Tokyo Waterfront area are borne by the customer at cost.
Article 8: Reservations, Fees and Payment
- Confirmation before applying means reading the fees shown, the payment deadline, date and time, numbers, content of use and individual provisions, and keeping the confirmation notice.
- Fees are shown at the time of reservation or purchase, and the confirmed details are notified to you. The deadline and method of payment follow the guidance given at the time of application.
- No reduction is given for changes to a reservation, and no refund for early conclusion. Extensions are subject to availability; same-day extensions at The Salon are charged at the standard rate plus 20%.
- Prices of Online Shop products are shown on each product page.
Article 9: Cancellation
- For The Salon, The Studio and the Apprentice Butler Experience, refunds are made only for cancellations more than 30 days before the date of use, and before the butler has been assigned and preparation has begun. From 30 days before, or once the butler has been assigned or preparation has begun, 100% of the fee is charged. Partial cancellations are not accepted.
- If the Association is unable to provide the service for its own reasons or through force majeure, fees received are refunded in full. Each cancellation charge applies only to the extent permitted by applicable law.
- Online Shop products are made to order and shipped directly by the manufacturer (Printful); cancellations after production has begun and returns for the customer's own reasons are not accepted. For defective items, misprints, or damage or loss in transit, the purchaser should contact Printful's customer support directly. The Association is not the point of contact for production or delivery matters and accepts no liability for them.
Article 10: Membership
- Membership hours are used in units of one hour and must be used within the month; unused hours lapse at the end of the month.
- Only hours for which the Association was unable to accept a reservation for its own reasons may be carried over, once, to the end of the following month. No further carry-over is made.
- Hours and visits are upper limits, and reservations may not be available depending on butlers' availability, in which case alternative dates are proposed. Priority for reservations is in the order Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze, then visitors.
Article 11: Our Butlers
- What each butler can provide varies. Only a limited number of butlers can accommodate requests such as driving, personal attentiveness or attendance outside the Manor.
- Requests beyond the scope of a butler's duties, requests contrary to law, and requests that compromise a butler's dignity are respectfully declined.
Article 12: Prohibited Conduct
- Conduct contrary to law or public order and morals, conduct connected with crime, and conduct that harms the rights, dignity or safety of third parties or butlers is prohibited.
- Bringing in hazardous items, unauthorised use of naked flames, unauthorised moving or damaging of furnishings and fixtures, entry to unauthorised areas, and use at volumes that affect the neighbourhood are prohibited.
- False application details, resale of rights, fraudulent payment and conduct that obstructs the operation of the service are prohibited. In the event of a breach, the butler may end your use and ask you to leave the Manor.
Article 13: Photography and Likeness
- Where the butler takes keepsake photographs, this is done with the customer's own camera or smartphone.
- Photography in which the butler appears must be requested when reserving. Where there is a photographic purpose or an intention to publish, the scope must be discussed in advance.
- Other customers and other persons must not be photographed or published without their consent.
Article 14: Damage and Liability
- Where damage to the Manor, furnishings, fixtures, vehicles or third parties arises through causes attributable to the customer, the customer may be asked to bear that damage.
- The Association is not liable for delay or cancellation caused by natural disaster, suspension of transport or other causes beyond its reasonable control, except where the Association is at fault.
- The limitations of liability in this Article do not apply in cases of wilful misconduct or gross negligence by the Association, or where liability cannot be limited under the Consumer Contract Act or other mandatory law.
Article 15: Personal Data
- The Association uses personal data necessary for reservations, purchases, delivery, enquiries and the provision of services in accordance with its handling of personal data.
- For the purposes of use, outsourcing, provision to third parties, requests for disclosure and the handling of cookies and the like, please see the page on the handling of personal data.
Article 16: Amendment and Governing Law
- Where these Terms are amended in response to changes in law or in the services, the amendments and their effective date are announced on this website.
- These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan.
Production and Shipping of Online Shop Products
- Online Shop products are made to order. Products are manufactured by Printful and shipped directly to the purchaser from its facilities. The Association holds no stock and carries out no production, packing or shipping.
- For defective items, misprints, or damage or loss in transit, the purchaser should contact Printful's customer support directly. The Association is not the point of contact for production or delivery matters and accepts no liability for them.
- As products are made to order, returns and exchanges for the purchaser's own reasons are not accepted. Please check the size and specifications on the product page before ordering.

Enquiries before applying
For anything you cannot settle from the Terms and individual guidance, please enquire before reserving or purchasing.
Read moreWhich should I check first, the common Terms or the individual provisions?
Reading the Terms means first confirming on this page the undertakings common to the four services, then cross-checking the fee pages, cancellation policy, product pages and application screens of the service you will use. Where the individual provisions differ from these Terms, please refer to Article 1, under which the individual provisions prevail.
When enquiring, please state the service you will use, your preferred date and time, numbers and the provision you wish to check. For cancellations, the reservation date and the notice on when preparation begins; for photography, the purpose and any plan to publish; for outings, the time and destination. Setting these out makes it easier for us to point you to the relevant provision.

QIs the butler in the Manor while I use the bed?
Yes. The bed is a training fixture for bed-making in butler education, and may also be used for rest. The butler remains in the Manor throughout, and no keys are handed over.
QCan membership hours be carried over?
As a rule they lapse at the end of the month. Only hours for which the Association was unable to accept a reservation for its own reasons may be carried over, once, to the end of the following month.

Private photography is permitted under the butler's guidance. Commercial use, streaming, advertising use and the publication of photographs showing people require advance notice and the necessary consent.
