About The Butler's Work
A butler's work is to learn the guest's wishes, prepare the space and the time, come at once to their side when needed, and leave only a presence when they wish to be quiet. Behind the gestures — opening a door, making tea, handling the furnishings — lie observation, confirmation and judgement.
The work begins before the welcome.
Preparation before the welcome is the work of arranging space, tools, light and the route in advance, so that the guest may pass through the door and be at ease from the first moment.
Before the guest arrives at the door, the butler settles the breathing of the house. The position of a chair, the level of the light, the direction of the silver bell, where to leave a half-read book. Each is small, but together they become the stillness of the moment of entering.
The work is not only what happens after arrival. To imagine wishes before they are spoken, to confirm them, and to provide neither too much nor too little: it is because of that preparation that the butler can remain unhurried in your presence.

The work of a butler is not shaped by gender alone. Queen's Butler has both male and female butlers in residence, each serving with their own voice, their own stride and their own strengths.

Opening a door, handing over a piece, drawing out a chair. A gesture looks beautiful because the movement after it is just as composed. The butler checks the condition of what was used, returns it to where it will next be needed, and quietly clears the way through the house.
After the farewell, the butler checks the pieces used and the routes of the house, and quietly closes the day. On an ordinary visit, your wishes are asked afresh each time you are welcomed. In a dedicated Buddy relationship, consideration for the time you have shared becomes the foundation of the next service.

What the butler's work includes

- Welcoming at the door, taking charge of belongings and coat, and guiding at the guest's pace
- Handling tea, silver, porcelain and furniture with care for their condition
- Watching the expression and the pauses in conversation of each guest, from one to a party of six
- Setting the house and its pieces in order after the farewell, and quietly closing the day

- Presuming the guest's feelings and proceeding without confirmation
- Leaving the furnishings or the house without a butler present
- Taking on requests beyond the individual butler's strengths or beyond mutual agreement

No. Serving is one visible gesture among many. The work is to shape the whole of the time: preparation before the welcome, care of the furnishings, checking the routes, and choosing the distance between conversation and silence.
QAre only male butlers in service?
No. In this house, male and female butlers bring their own voice, stride and strengths to the work. On the shared foundation of a butler's courtesy, we serve in the way that suits your wishes on the day.
QCan every butler do the same things?
Each butler has their own strengths. We ask your wishes and introduce the butler able to fulfil them.
QMay I use the Manor without a butler?
No. A butler is always in residence, keeping the doors and the furnishings and remaining at your side. Protecting the guest's safety and the pieces of the house is also part of the butler's work.
QDoes the work change between a single guest and a group?
Yes. To preserve the quiet of a single guest, the butler approaches less often; with a group, the butler widens the view so that no one is left out of the conversation. For up to six guests, the butler also arranges the chairs and how voices carry.
QCan I express my wishes well, even on a first visit?
Yes. When booking, it is enough to tell us one thing you would like to do. On the day, the butler reads your expression and conversation and guides you without pressing choices upon you.
