What a Green Room Needs Before an Appearance

A mirror, a clothes rail, quiet, drinks and the time to the venue

About What a Green Room Needs Before an Appearance

What a green room needs before an appearance is a setting in which those heading to an event, ceremony, shoot or speaking engagement at a venue in Odaiba can arrange in one place their mirror, clothes rail, quiet, drinks, luggage and departure time. A butler keeping the door and the time, so that the performer and companions can concentrate on preparing, is the measure by which to choose a green room.

IWork back from the performance, and fix the arrival and departure times first

Preparing a green room is not simply securing an empty room; it is working back from the time you must be at the venue to create an order of arrival, unpacking, costume, mirror, checks, concentration and departure. Knowing the venue, how you enter it, the number of performers and the amount of luggage shows the room and the sequence you will need.

When booking, please tell us not only when the performance begins but when you must be at the venue. Allowing for traffic and the venue's own check-in, we settle what is done last at the Manor so that you can leave with time in hand. If you would like chauffeured pick-up, share the party size, venue and luggage too.

Queen's Butler The Studio welcomes up to six guests as a green room. One Queen's Butler butler is always in the room, supporting reception, luggage, drinks, timing and transport. Female butlers also serve here; please tell us any preference when you book.

Checking a hat and costume in the mirror of the Wardrobe

From the departure time, the order of preparation is decided backwards

Once the final check is settled, where to hang costumes and when to concentrate fall naturally into place.

IIUse the mirror not only for the face, but for the full length and the back of the costume

A green room mirror is not only for grooming; it is where the length, collar, sleeves, shoes and accessories of a costume are checked in the very combination to be worn on stage. In the full-length mirror of the Wardrobe you can see the whole silhouette and how it looks in motion.

The Manor has no windows; the Manor's lamps and photographic lighting are available. With an Amaran 300C and an Aputure Quick Dome 90 to hand, the light around the mirror can be adjusted as needed. Test shots of costume colours and the face allow us to compare, together, the difference from the venue's light.

Spreading make-up, accessories and devices all before the mirror makes things harder to find. Separate what is used now, what is used just before leaving, and what returns to the bag, and agree their places with the butler. The floor reflected in the mirror and the feet of lighting stands are kept clear for safety.

IIIHang costumes in the order of dressing, and keep accessories together in sets

Preparing costumes is not just hanging clothes; it is gathering them into sets by the order of dressing, undressing and taking away. Jacket, shirt, shoes, hat and accessories left in separate places cost searching time before departure.

Garment bags and empty hangers, items before and after wearing, are kept apart. If you are borrowing butler attire, sizes and styles are limited, so please tell us your height and clothing size before booking.

Pressing, shoe care and any work needing special tools should be prepared by you, without assuming the Manor has them. The butler arranges where costumes hang, the route to the mirror and where accessories are laid out, and helps check the items to be taken.

IVFor quiet time, agree a signal for not being spoken to and a single point of contact

Quiet before an appearance is not total silence; it is a state in which the conversation, messages and visitors reaching the performer are limited to what is necessary. Choose a place to suit how you spend it: reading a script in the Study, composing your posture in the Fireplace Room.

Appoint one person to receive messages, gathering contact from the venue and companions. Divide what the performer hears into what must be passed on at once and what can wait until a break in preparation. The butler stays in the room, keeping out of the performer's line of sight and conversation.

As the Manor is within a shared building, it cannot guarantee silence or soundproofing. If you plan vocal work, playback or instruments, please discuss the details in advance. With consideration for neighbours, the butler confirms a volume at which the checks you need can be made.

The point of this article: to keep the door is to separate the voices that must be heard now from those that can wait, protecting the performer's time to prepare.

VKeep drinks and light refreshments away from costumes and equipment

Green room drinks are chosen not by preference alone, but in a form that does not get in the way of costumes, scripts, devices or movement. We serve tea, and the butler handles the drinks you bring. You are welcome to bring food and drink.

Meals are not provided. Please prepare what you need yourself and check allergy labelling and storage. For strong-smelling items, containers that spill easily, or anything needing temperature control, discuss in advance whether a place away from costumes and furnishings is available.

Rather than leaving empty cups before the mirror or on the floor, agree with the butler where they are cleared to. If you are taking a drink with you just before leaving, keep it separate from the Manor's cups. So that the number of bags does not change, items brought and empty containers are checked against each other on departure.

VISort luggage into three by when it is used, and keep the exit clear

Organising luggage means separating costumes, what is needed at once, what goes to the venue and what stays at the Manor, keeping the way from the door to the venue clear. A large case before the mirror or the clothes rail has to be moved every time you prepare.

On arrival, tell the butler what is fragile, what should not be touched and what goes to the venue. Keep valuables in your own care, and mark similar bags belonging to several people. Items staying in the green room are gathered in one place, apart from what is checked at departure.

Decide who handles what goes to the venue: the performer, a companion or the butler. Matching the order of loading into the car with the order things are first needed at the venue saves searching on arrival. The butler checks the count with you before closing the Manor's door.

VIIWith companions, separate the place for preparing from the place for waiting

Arranging a small green room means not gathering everyone in one spot, but giving the performer, those helping with costume and grooming, and the person receiving messages each a place where they do not get in one another's way. Even with six, the chairs and luggage positions needed vary by role.

Assign roles to the rooms of the Manor: the Wardrobe for costumes and mirror, the Study for scripts and documents, the Fireplace Room for waiting and conversation. Reduce the moments everyone moves at once, so that people and luggage do not cross the performer's path from mirror to exit.

If you come alone, the butler still supports the door, drinks, luggage and reminders of the time. With two, the companion acts as point of contact while the butler arranges the rooms. The more people, the more important it is to settle one person who makes the final decisions.

VIIIChauffeured pick-up is available for return journeys to five locations including Tokyo Teleport Station, confirmed at quotation

Transport from the green room is not simply getting into a car; it links checking coat, costumes, luggage and drinks through to the moment of departure. In a black Alphard driven by the butler, we carry up to six guests, limited to return journeys between the Manor and Tokyo Teleport Station, Tokyo International Cruise Terminal Station, DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, Aqua City Odaiba and Decks Tokyo Beach.

Chauffeured pick-up is a service attached to your plan. On some days the vehicle is unavailable, so we confirm availability when you book. Please tell us which of the five locations, the party size, luggage and preferred arrival time. Checking traffic and vehicle conditions, we advise a workable flow.

Journey times to each location vary with the day and traffic, so we do not quote a fixed number of minutes. Allow margin in the departure time, and decide who contacts the venue if there is a delay. On rainy days, the butler agrees with you the order for handling umbrellas, costumes and luggage.

IXBefore leaving, check costumes, accessories, devices and documents in order

The final check in a green room is not putting whatever catches the eye into a bag; it is checking costumes, accessories, shoes, devices, chargers, scripts, drinks and gifts in a settled order. The more you hurry, the more is left before the mirror, under chairs and near the power sockets.

The butler separates what goes to the venue from what is taken home on departure, and checks the clothes rail and luggage area. The performer checks valuables and stage items; companions check phones and documents for contact. If anything must stay at the Manor after you leave, please discuss in advance whether it can be kept, when it will be collected and how the butler will handle it.

Including when the butler is driving, arrangements inside the Manor after departure are confirmed according to your booking. At the end of your hire, everything you brought is as a rule taken with you, and the furnishings and clothes rail are returned to their original state. If you notice something left behind, please contact the Manor promptly.
