About Butler Home Visit

A Butler Home Visit is a membership privilege in which a butler attends you for eight hours at your home or a place of your choosing: once a month for Gold members, twice a month for Platinum members. It covers Tokyo's 23 wards, with travel costs charged at actual expense; locations outside Tokyo by consultation. Please request your visit at least 30 days before your preferred date. For women only.

First answer

Eight hours at home begin with a conversation before the visit

A day with a visiting butler means that the butler you have come to know at the Queen's Butler manor comes to the place of your everyday life and shapes eight hours of duty there. It begins with a bow at the front door and taking your coat and belongings, and continues with tea, accompanying you out, receiving callers and whatever care the day requires, in line with what we have discussed beforehand.

Precisely because your home is unfamiliar ground, the butler first confirms the layout and your wishes. Sharing the items you treasure, rooms not to be entered, expected callers and destinations allows the butler to anticipate discreetly. As a butler of Queen's Butler, a general incorporated association, we serve to protect both your daily life and your dignity.

At home, we first settle the distance to keep and the handling of your belongings

Where to waitThe butler does not stand constantly before you; we ask in which room to wait and whether you will call by bell or by voice. Sharing even your preference for quiet allows the eight hours to settle naturally into your life.
The Buddy's roleThe relationship in which a Buddy attends as if part of yourself is carried beyond the Manor. In an unfamiliar place, we ask your priorities and confirm what can be done before acting.
Judgement on arrivalAt the door, the butler repeats the day's order and confirms whether tea or preparations for going out come first. Creating the margin to be on time for what follows is the butler's judgement.
Treasured itemsFor silver or porcelain whose material or provenance is unknown, we make no assumptions and ask how it is to be held and washed. White gloves serve to avoid fingerprints and careless contact, and to return each piece as it was.
Season and weatherOn hot days we confirm drinks and where to leave your coat; on cold days, the lighting and warmth on your return. In spring and autumn, an outing and the tea that follows are joined into a single scene.
A day aloneWe first ask how much conversation you wish and what distance to keep. We settle a position from which you may receive tea without closing your book and put the butler out of sight when not needed. Quiet, too, is part of our service.

Tell us your preferred date

At least 30 days ahead, let us know your preferred date, the location and the duties you wish. For locations outside Tokyo, we discuss the details at this stage.

We check your Buddy's availability

We confirm the butler's schedule and travel. If your Buddy is unavailable, we introduce a substitute butler.

Share the place and the shape of the day

We ask about the route from the front door to the main rooms, destinations, callers, items that may be touched and where to wait.

Agree the scope of duties

Tea, care of clothing and luggage, accompanying you out, receiving callers: we settle what takes priority within the eight hours.

The day begins with a bow

The butler arrives and confirms any changes with you. For sudden plans, we tell you on the spot what can be done.

What you may leave to us

  • Preparing and serving tea and drinks
  • Care of coats, hand luggage and purchases
  • Accompanying you out, and attending to doors
  • Welcoming and seeing off callers
  • Waiting close at hand during study or reading, ready to act when needed

What needs discussion beforehand

  • Requests beyond the scope of a butler's duties
  • Requests that would compromise a butler's dignity
  • Handling places or items not shared with us in advance
  • Journeys or tasks whose safety cannot be confirmed
What to prepare

The less familiar the place, the more a short briefing smooths the day

A briefing in advance is the map by which a butler moves with respect for your home. Even a few bullet points, such as where shoes are arranged at the door, where the tea things are kept, items not to be touched and the room where callers are received, keep the confirmations on the day brief.

There is no particular dress code. On days that include an outing, choose attire to suit the destination and weather; on days spent mostly indoors, something comfortable. On rainy days we also ask in advance where wet coats and umbrellas are to go, so that no drops are left on floors or treasured items.

QMay I request fewer than eight hours?
A

The privilege is for eight hours per visit. If the duties you wish take less than eight hours, please discuss with your butler at the time of your request how the remaining time is to be used.

QIf I do not use a month's visit, may it be carried over?
A

The number of visits and the hours granted to members are governed by separate conditions. If you wish to carry unused visits into the following month, please ask us individually.

QWill you come outside Tokyo's 23 wards?
A

Locations outside Tokyo are by consultation. We ask about the place and travel time, and advise whether it can be accommodated as an eight-hour duty, together with the travel costs at actual expense.

QWill my Buddy always come?
A

We check your Buddy's availability first. If unavailable, a substitute butler attends, and we tell you in advance who it will be and what has been briefed.

QMay I choose a place other than my home?
A

Yes, by consultation. We confirm the conditions of use at the place and the duties a butler can perform there before confirming.

QMay I request a visit without being a member?
A

The Butler Home Visit is a privilege of Gold and Platinum membership. If you wish for continuing service in your daily life, please enquire about a butler contract with a Buddy.
